Faircatch is a collaborative enterprise and we hope it will contribute in a small way to fostering a greater sense of community in our neighbourhood. We’d like to help promote some other wonderful organisations that are connecting people and helping us share knowledge and resources, such as those below.
Streetbank – “Share things with your neighbours” – a lovely team of people based in SW6 but connecting folk across the world – we have great experiences of making new friends through this site, as well as both lending and borrowing stuff with our neighbours. Please sign up, and donate if you can – they need your support to continue the good work.
Streetlife is a brilliant fast-growing platform for neighbours to connect with each other – asking for help or recommendations, raising awareness or commenting on local issues, sharing or donating household items. Get involved, we find this site incredibly useful.
Community Matters SW18 – Run entirely by volunteers, this site works to bring closer community ties within the streets of Wandsworth, particularly the area bordered by Earlsfield and Trinity Roads, Garratt Lane and East Hill. Formed in 2012 by a group of local mothers, it has recruited street reps for each street within the local area, who are encouraged to bring a kind welcome to newcomers, maintain a look-out for those may be unwell or vulnerable and keep their streets informed of community and local events by email.
NappyValleyNet has become an institution for mums in south-west London since launching in 2009. It helps users choose schools, recruit nannies, trade childcare tips, recommend builders and find holidays, as well as promoting local events. With more than 50,000 mums visiting each month, it is an invaluable local resource.
